INTRODUCTION
ZenRhen is both a name and an idea. The name means “zen river or stream,” and the idea is to create artwork using a zen like process, resulting in a zen like effect.
The logo is derived from a picture of my best friend Zen, playing Frisbee with me on the McKenzie River in Oregon. She was a huge part of my life and we had many adventures together, hiking, swimming and exploring many o miles across the forests, mountains and coast.
She passed last year, 2024 and of course I will always miss her. Some of my friends called her Zenrhen, hence the name, which fits well with both what I am doing and how I carry myself. Tying all this together, the logo will enable her impression to carry on...
Zen as a meaning, to me, is like a comfortable moment adrift in presence, somewhat detached from intention and action, it is more being than doing. I connect with this space and linger while painting and the result is an abstract snapshot of potentiality. These lively colors and fertile patterns represent a slice of the perception process in it's journey to connect with familiarity.
I began creating abstract paintings 20 years ago and now have over 250 paintings. The paintings are done on 18 x 24 heavy watercolor paper or larger canvases using acrylic paints. A friend suggested this sublimation process and I thought the transfers looked unique and pretty cool. I will release groups of limited works periodically over time.
The products are well made and comfortable. Sizes are accurate, unless otherwise indicated.
I hope to bring a fresh artistry scene to apparel and empower the independent thinkers with unique apparel.
A portion of all sales will go to American Humane Organization https://www.americanhumane.org/ ,a group involved with rescuing and housing dogs and other animals displaced by natural disaster.
